There seems to be two ways to win Storage Wars. The first is to actually win lockers and make money. You have to know about everything from hypertherm products to antiques to know what is valuable and needs to be appraised and what isn't. This is hard work.
The second way is to establish yourself as such a character on the show that they can't live without you. This has been happening on the original. Every few episodes they claim to have a new guy in town but they never stick, like the guy who was bidding by making chicken noises.
One the new series Storage Wars Texas I found it hilarious how people were trying to capitalize on Dave Hester's Yeeeep catch phrase. They all had their catch phrases ready and were firing them back and forth but none of them will ever be as memorable as Dave's.
