Why Are We Clapping?

That's something I always seem to ask myself when I watch The Nanny. Occasionally the audience will erupt into applause so I know it's someone famous because of the context clues. However, I can rarely place them, even though I originally watched The Nanny when it aired. I think some of the guest stars are just out of my realm because Maxwell is a Broadway producer. I'm glad that everyone else is so excited to see the guest star, but I can just never figure out why we are clapping.
