If you count all of my swapping last year, I probably got 100 new to me CDs last year, all without spending very much money. (I used swapacd, the icon is in the sidebar) I still have 400 CDs on my wish list. That seems like a lot, & even if I'm just paying postage, it can add up when done en mass. I've thought about buying downloads, it would be a lot easier to store.
However, I need new CDs, not just want them. I know some people think that the format is outdated, or will be soon. I was one a road trip today with just one Johnny Cash CD for eight hours & little to no radio reception. It was painful. CDs are like online car insurance, you can never have too much or too many. My car stereo can't play mp3's & even if it could, most other cars that I would be riding in, wouldn't be able to. I need more CDs end of story
