I've been on a theme song kick lately. It makes sense because we hear these songs every week & we relate them to our favorite characters. "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" theme has to be one of my favorite theme songs ever. I spent hours in front of the computer about ten years ago, listening to this over & over throwing my hat up in the air in the den & promising myself that I would someday move to a big city & work in a newsroom. I was just a tad delusional, but the theme song is still great. There are actually two versions of the lyrics. I love them both equally. Thanks to Wikipedia for the lyrics. The video features Sonny Curtis, Sammy Davis Jr., & Joan Jett.
"The theme song, "Love Is All Around", was written and performed by Sonny Curtis
(Season 1, 1970)
How will you make it on your own?
This world is awfully big, and girl, this time you're all alone.
But it's time you started living.
It's time you let someone else do some giving.
Love is all around, no need to waste it.
You can have the town, why don't you take it?
You might just make it after all.
You might just make it after all.
(Seasons 2-7, 1971-1977)
Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?
Well it's you, girl, and you should know it
With each glance and every little movement you show it
Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can have the town, why don't you take it?
You're gonna make it after all
You're gonna make it after all"
