Are You Watching Friends?

I know that it was a really big deal for Netflix to get Friends, but is anyone actually watching it? When I look at the "Popular on Facebook" sections of Netflix or the just plain popular group this doesn't seem to even really show up. Is anyone actually watching Friends or are they just talking about how cool it is that it's on Netflix? I'm watching it and it's funnier than I remember but I don't know if I'll make it through the entire series.

Taking Me Back

Since I've been watching Friends again it's got me thinking about where I was in the 90's. I always wanted to play guitar like Phoebe but sadly I can't sing the way she can. It did make me wonder if it's not too late. I already have an acoustic guitar but I think an acoustic/electric version would be better so I was reading epiphone ej-200ce reviews. Has anyone else taken up an instrument mid-life and stuck with it?

Enlightened Review

I thought I was going to love this show. I almost bought the DVDs at Barnes and Noble and I never do that. It seemed so me; a transformed woman taking a holistic path in a big business. It was free to watch with an Amazon prime account and I was elated.  The first episode was maybe 70% of what I was expecting but I figured it would pick up.  The whole show would've passed by as unremarkable but my expectations were so high that I just had to keep watching. It wasn't a terrible show just it didn't stay true to itself at all. The overall message seemed to be "You can't change anything...but wear a yellow dress that will be pretty". I was sad when I found out it was only a two season show until I actually watched it. Not a terrible show, just not what I was expecting.

What Does It Mean?

I really love the song Take Me to Church by Hozier. There's songs that makes me want to dance or take a vacation to a santa monica dance studios I call these "summer songs" like Taylor Swift's Shake It Off. When I heard Take Me to Church by Hozier I knew it wasn't a summer song. It was perfect because I was just complaining about how all music was too light and fluffy for winter and fall. It has a lot of soul to it and is moodier. It obviously means something big. I've listened to interviews from him as well as read lots of opinions on what it means and I get the general idea but I know that there's more and more to discover about it.

It's That Time of Year Again

This used to be my favorite time of year because all of the Christmas movies would start on cable. It was the one time of year where I could watch a made for TV movie. It was also the only programming I really missed when I cut the cable cord. This year Netflix has added some more movies that I haven't seen so I'm looking forward to watching some old favorites and finding some new ones. It still won't be the epic weekend marathons that used to be on Lifetime but I've been saving these all year!

Winter Music

No, I'm not writing about Christmas music. This summer was all about Taylor Swift and Meghan Trainor. In winter though I like darker and moodier music. There should be a change in music through the seasons just the same way there is for the weather and clothes. I don't want Christmas music yet I want grit and soul. Every winter I think about making it myself and picking up a UA Apollo 16 Thunderbolt and figuring out tracking and mixing. Maybe this will be the year. What music do you like in the winter?

How to Get Away With Murder TV Show Review

This is a show that I found out about thanks to Hulu Plus. I guess it's on ABC and it's pretty good. It reminds me of how intense Scandal used to be during the first and second seasons. After that I got used to Scandal being intense so it lost some of the suspense because it's always suspenseful if that makes sense. I hope that there are a lot more seasons of this show because I'll definitely be watching.

Biggest Regrets

One of my biggest regrets in life is that I've never been in a band. I always let the fact that I can't sing keep me from this. I didn't want to have to learn a whole new instrument like the guitar or the drums. However, I do play piano so I would be able to transition to the keyboard pretty easily. I could learn about midi interfaces and shop now. It is one of those things on my bucket list that I don't know if I'll ever get to cross off which is why it's one of my biggest regrets.

I Still Can't Watch It

When I had cable I would watch The Real Housewives of New York. I really liked Jill Zarin. Then I started watching The Real Housewives of New Jersey because the commercials seemed like these people had mob ties and who wouldn't want to watch that? I thought that this would be one of my binge watches when I signed up for Hulu Plus. I made it through half an episode of New York and wondered what had been wrong with my younger self that I could even watch this. Then I got to New Jersey and it was still interesting but I only made it through one season because I wanted to see the famous table incident. After I watched the Hot Wives of Atlanta the real show just seemed so silly that I'm swearing off the franchise. I'm sick of the way every conversation is rehashed 1000 times.

So Awesome

A few years ago I started downloading some of the free new tunes on Amazon Music, and honestly they just weren't great at the time and there were like seven to choose from. I recently logged back on and I'm in love, I'm ready to give it personalized promise rings. I've found so many new great bands and singers from this. There are a few singles from some of my favorites like Mason Jennings and Hawthorne Heights. The quality of the music is better than anything I've heard on the radio for a long time. I'm not always in the mood to listen to music that I've never heard of before, but when I am I'm going to head over there.

My Favorite Song of the Summer

I don't usually like Taylor Swift but I like her new song. I know that it's going to be played so often on the radio that I will hate it by the end of the month but I'm willing to admit it. I like Shake It Off, there I've said it. It's catchy and the video is just perfect. I know I'll never live it down but Taylor Swift deserves it this once.

I Need New TV

I've been getting bored with Netflix the past few months. I keep hoping they will release some awesome new seasons of my favorite shows to keep me interested but so far it hasn't happened. I would watch a reality show about Entirely Pets Pharmacy at this point. So, I decided to sign up for Hulu Plus. My overall review is that it's great for binge watching. There's only a few shows that I care about like Keeping up with the Kardashians and Flipping Out. I also thought that The Hot Wives of Atlanta was the best original programming I've seen since Netflix did Arrested Development. However, it's not going to be a staple for me like Netflix is. I'll keep it for a few months and then cancel until they stock up on some more of my favorites.

It's That Time of Year

No, I'm not talking about Christmas. It's the time of year where I run out of good things to watch on Netflix. I consider switching to Hulu Plus. I'm ready to cancel my subscription. Since this happens every year I know in August that all of my favorite shows will have new seasons available and I will regret cancelling my subscription. Then I'm all set for the next year. So, I'm going to stay for a few more months and hope that the pattern repeats itself.

Riding the Bus

I ride the bus a lot and the only way that it is bearable is if I have headphones and music. Then I rather enjoy it. However, I also go through several sets of ear buds a year. Now I usually just look for the lowest price when I shop. What else is part of my criteria?

 1. I need to have noise canceling headphones.
2. It needs to be lightweight and easy to store.
3. I like silicone tips with several sizes.

 I used to be more loyal to a certain brand or a certain sound. Now I just mainly shop by price as long as the criteria is met because I either lose them or wear them out.

Shows I'm Over

There are a few shows that I've been obsessed with forever. I would anxiously await the next season and then slowly ration the episodes to last for as long as possible. Maybe just because I'm getting older but this year I've found that there are a few shows that I've just gotten sick of suddenly. They include: Hart of Dixie (Sadly this happened in the second season. Zoey Heart just instantly became whiney to me and I couldn't stand her as a character anymore but I still love the supporting cast. True Blood. Granted it took until the 5th season but suddenly I just didn't care anymore about who was in love with a vampire and who was going to become a vampire. I took the discs back to the library after the first few minutes and feel slightly guilty about abandoning it mid season but not enough to watch it anymore. Neither of these shows jumped the shark, it's just been more of a change in my own tastes over time. Has anyone else had this happen?

I'm Suddenly Missing

I've been without cable for over a year and I enjoy the extra time and haven't been tempted to go back. Lately though I find myself craving reality tv which is something that Netflix doesn't have the best selection of. I don't know what the new shows are if they feature a health insurance agency in nc or an ad agency. I miss out on a lot of catch phrases and just pop culture in general this way. I don't even know who all of the sassy characters are. That's the one thing I regret about not having cable. I do read a lot more books; but no one is really talking about those and they don't generally come with catch phrases. I don't miss it enough to sign back up for cable just a warning to those who are thinking about it.

What's Up With That?

I don't know if it's something that's just done for reality TV but it's my least favorite part of any wedding dress show. Yes, there are about a thousand different shows about young women shopping for wedding dresses but they all have this in common. There is usually one friend or family member who constantly picks on the bride. On Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta one Mom was even talking about how it looked better on the hanger. Some brides even refuse to come out of the dressing rooms or break down sobbing. I really hope that is just a made for tv moment because I can't imagine why anyone would do that.

How Would You Classify Your Music Style?

Like everyone else I know, when asked about what kind of music I like I will generally say "I like a little bit of everything". I thought that this was true because I have a mix of a lot of genres, artists, and decades in my collection. So I always thought that this was true. However, recently a friend commented that I only like mellow music. It's true, almost everything I've assembled, all of the random decades and artists that no one else has heard of lack a bass line or heavy instruments. It's very quiet and melodic. I can listen to it when I'm washing the dishes, shopping for insurance, reading about don allred insurance burlington nc, or doing my taxes. I guess I do have a very specific taste in music after all. I will still be going with my "I like everything" response though.

House of Cards

OK, so just a few weeks ago I was complaining about how House of Cards shouldn't be so popular. However, after watching a few more episodes I got hooked. I still don't know why. It shouldn't be nearly as fascinating or as thrilling as it is. However, I haven't compared it to background noise in awhile. I guess it's just a show where you really have to get in the rhythm of it. That's the one bad thing about Netflix; I am able to pause it in the middle of episodes and come back days later and this is a show that really has to be watched in it's entirety or every episode starts sounding the same.

I used to love the show Whose Wedding Is It Anyways? I was thrilled when it came onto Netflix Instant Watch a few years ago. However, then I was a little bit discouraged to see that they only had the seasons that I'd already watched. Plus, I found it too boring and too slow compared to shows like Bridezillas. I would try to keep the books for my business, dream of buying a house or find the real estate checklist template I'd need someday if I decide I do want to be a real estate agent, or think ahead to my taxes while it was on in the background. It was a show that didn't matter. However, recently I've gotten sick of all of the screaming and reality style TV. I like that the dresses don’t cost tens of thousands of dollars the way they do on other wedding shows even though these episodes can be over ten years old. It’s one of my favorite shows to watch now and I'm glad that I gave it a second chance. Plus, it's funny to see Buddy from the Cake Boss pop up as a baker when there's a New Jersey wedding.
