My favorite so far is Put on a Happy Face. Mary is determined to get to an awards show even though she is sick, has no date, and her dress gets ruined. She doesn't think she'll win a Teddy. She just thinks that it's ungracious of her to go. Her week unravels from three. I had hoped that Mary would maintain her sunny disposition proving that she wouldn't turn into Rhoda just because things go wrong. The show implies that she is only Mary just because things go so well for her and she can't seem to handle even having a bad day. However, it was probably the funniest show I've ever seen of hers; even topping the chuckle the clown episode.

Last American Cowboy

Last American Cowboy is a different kind of reality show. It isn't just all about a competition or any kind of competition at all. Instead, it's just all about different families trying to survive on a ranch so they aren’t the last American cowboy. It’s not like they're trying to get rich instead it just shows them trying to survive. Mostly I just envision barns as being dusty or where you keep the two step stool or tools. It reminded me how hard some people have to work and that I shouldn't ever complain about my job. A lot of people work harder than me with less certainty and for about the same amount of money probably.

Thanks to Shipping Wars

I've never really thought about how things get from place to place like pool supplies or large statues. It's one of my favorite design shows out there which is saying a lot. I always found Sell This House to be a little lackluster but I liked Tanya and Roger. I'd tune in if there wasn't anything else on. They always used the same tricks by turning sheets into curtains and neutralizing the home. While this may have worked in the previous housing market now they’ve kicked it up a notch to remain competitive. They are using bigger budgets and sometimes even putting in an entirely new kitchen. The best part of Sell This House which was the hidden camera open house still remains. It used to be a show that I'd watch occasionally but now I won't be missing it.

$100 Makeover Home Show

I saw this show when I was trying to track down a different show on the A&E site. I was skeptical at first that the makeover would be dramatic. I was expecting that they would mostly just clean up. This makes sense because in a virtual world where you can take guitar lessons online there really isn't the need for all the sheet music and books that most people have. I was impressed that they also had to work paint into that budget. It's weird though that so many people have unopened sheet sets or curtain panels just stored in their linen closets. Also, most people start off with pretty good furniture at least when it comes to the upholstered pieces. It was good to see the designer Leslie Segrete again she has one of the best personalities of any TV designer.

Who Do You Miss The Most?

I was surprised to see new judges, hosts, and mentors for Project Runway: All Stars. Since we're using designers we've seen before why did we have to change a formula that was obviously working? I guess I shouldn't say "we" because if I had been a decison maker there would be an obviously different outcome.

I miss Tim Gunn the most. The work room just seems so cold and choatic without him. I did read this interview with Tim. I guess the two seasons were running at the same time with the thinking that people could just run back and forth between the sets but Tim said it would've been too looney. I guess there isn't that much downtime to kick back with an e reader. I don’t mind the fact that it’s time to take down the decorations or the tree. However, I do hate it when it’s time to turn on the TV again. I tend to watch more TV in the month of December because it’s too cold outside. Also, I think the quality of the programming goes up. There’s just so much encouragement everywhere. There might be lawyers, or guys who deal with malpractice insurance, who suddenly help people believe in Santa. Even a lot of the movies based around romance are cute instead of disgusting or sad. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to wait until next year to watch a made for TV movie.

Snow Review

No, I'm not talking about reviewing the weather. It would only get one star from me with the phrase "pretty but cold". I recently watched this Christmas movie and also Snow 2: Brain Freeze. The original is from 2004. Sure, I just watched it because it had Tom Cavanaugh in it. I do like the idea of belief. One of the reindeer can't fly anymore because he's stopped believing in himself. It's a heartwarming message and I wish that there were more of these zany, inspiring movies year round. Also, it wouldn't hurt if Tom Cavanaugh was in more of them.

You Can't Have a Christmas Movie

It appears that you can't have a Christmas movie without Dean Cain. It makes me as happy as reward cards. I've watched two movies with him in it both on Lifetime and Hallmark already. This must be a busy time of year for him. I am obligated to watch every single movie he is in.

My favorite movie so far with him in it has been The Case for Christmas. This has in part to do with the fact that he's a leading character here so we can see him all the time. However, I love the plot line of Santa getting sued. There's also a graph based on belief and Santa is in danger if the graph dips down too far. Again, it's whimsical and unbelievable....but Dean Cain is in it. It also has the same idea of belief that Snow had in it. Who is vital for your favorite Christmas movies?

Winning Storage Wars

There seems to be two ways to win Storage Wars. The first is to actually win lockers and make money. You have to know about everything from hypertherm products to antiques to know what is valuable and needs to be appraised and what isn't. This is hard work.

The second way is to establish yourself as such a character on the show that they can't live without you. This has been happening on the original. Every few episodes they claim to have a new guy in town but they never stick, like the guy who was bidding by making chicken noises.

One the new series Storage Wars Texas I found it hilarious how people were trying to capitalize on Dave Hester's Yeeeep catch phrase. However, I ended up really loving the whole idea behind this. It made me want to move there and write letters from Juliet. The premise is that women come from all around and ask questions to Juliet's statute from Romeo and Juliet. Then a team of townspeople writes back an answer. This was such an interesting concept that I wished that the whole movie had followed more of the letters instead of just one person’s. Now I have to go research to see if that's actually a job because that would by far be the best job on the entire planet.

The Best of Instant Watch

I think that the best thing that's been added to Instant Watch on Netflix lately has been How I Met Your Mother. I know some people who are looking to watch the show on the i pod touch. They have six seasons. This is especially ironic because I didn't cancel my DVD shipments because I didn't want to miss out on the sixth season. If only I could somehow get caught up on the current episodes so I could then watch them on TV. I just hope that they release the next season as close to the DVD release as they did this one. I know it's been all over the news that they are now basically charging for their DVD and Instant Watch services separately. I spent a lot of time staring at the floor after that and wondered if I needed carpet cleaning raleigh services.

I decided to cancel my DVD service. At first I didn't think that I'd miss it so much. However, it's even been affecting my exercise because now I don't have to walk to the Post Office all the time. I feel a slight sense of panic when my favorite shows come out on DVD. It didn't used to matter because I could just get them through the mail. I was worried about how it would end just because I wanted it to be appropriate for kids. I had hoped it would be one of those movies that kids and adults would enjoy. However, at the same time both Gene and Shannon kept insisting that they are happily unmarried. It was like they kept copying their mantra, or kept trying to scan their lifestyles into people's brains like you would with document imaging software and a computer.

However, it also seems when everything fell apart that Shannon really needed to get some security. I felt bad for her when Gene proposed; she seemed genuinely surprised but also so angry and upset. I just feel like this example maybe will make women hang onto guys who won't give them what they want. They may have hopes that they turn around like Gene seemed to do. So, now that I'm a grown up I went and saw them on the Netflix Instant Queue. I was stunned at how tame they are to even the most subdued things on TV now. I'm not even 30 yet, but I long for the "old days”. I think TV was actually funnier then when it wasn't full of so many crude jokes because you couldn't take the obvious way out. It looks like I'll just be watching my Roku a lot more now.

Hot In Cleveland Review

So far I've only watched two episodes of this show but it does really present an interesting idea. I was glad that Roku finally had it. Basically the premise of the show is that three women get stranded in Cleveland on their way to Paris. They decide to stay because they are considered attractive there instead of just old like they are in L.A. It really shows how even things like housing prices are drastically different. Since I'm only a few episodes in I think the show will eventually find a downside; such as you know that season called winter.

It really got me thinking how every different area in the country probably has different ideas of beauty. So even if you are just into free dating online maybe widen your search parameters to other areas or even the entire country to see what else is out there.

Pan Am Review

At first I wasn't going to watch Pan Am just because it seemed like it was going to be a cheap rip off of Mad Men. These shows have to be done carefully or else the women end up looking like perfect models who just run on batteries and are secretly robots.

However, I find myself falling more and more in love with this show every week and I like it just as much if not more so than Mad Men. However, my one big word of caution simply is that it's on ABC. ABC has canceled a lot of the best shows out there like Pushing Daises; so I'm trying to not let myself get too attached.

Yeah WGN!

WGN has some really great new programs. You see they are Project Runway and The Office and I don't stay up late to watch any of the airings. It's bad enough that I also have to miss Parks & Recreation every week. My Christmas photo cards will have a frowny face on them this year.

So I can either miss all of The Office or miss the elimination on Project Runway. I practically want to send out Smilebox print invitations to the primiere. I know I have been very critical of this show the past few seasons and everything seems to just run together into one big long episode where it's not lupus; it's never lupus. However, the previews I saw of this season show House in jail. That's enough to get my attention again. I don't like the idea of him having to pay for the consequences of his actions. I know everyone does eventually but he's just so adorable in such a scruffy way can't we let him off?

Nick at Nite Has Friends

Well I guess I’m officially old enough that some of my childhood TV staples are now on Nick at Nite. One of them is Friends. I was actually glad to see this there just because when Nick at Nite gets a show that they like; they tend to air it a lot...a whole lot. Sometimes it's the only thing that's on for days. However, I missed this when they did it with The Nanny. I'd like them to at least mix two of their best shows up; but it is nice to see so many one right after the other although they aren't always in order when they do their marathons.

That One Person

One of my least favorite parts of almost any reality show is going to be after the person is eliminated. I hate how they always have to go and take them away from their teammates; like they do by making them go to the work room and clean up their stuff on Project Runway.

However, there seems to be at least one person on every single reality show; every single season. You know the person that makes me want to grab my iphone 3g cases and tell everybody they are finally gone. When it comes time for them to go clean up their stuff; everyone is absolutely elated. They are trying not to giggle and jump up and down. I certainly felt that way about one particular contestant on Design Star this season. However, I guess when you're really fighting for your dream the worst parts of who you are will probably come out.

What is TLC Thinking?

This is what I kept asking myself when I heard of the new schedules...well more importantly what won't be on the schedule anymore. I just can't imagine that they have a show in the works that's popular enough to replace either Kate Plus 8 or L.A. Ink, let alone both of the shows. I doubt I will really be tuning in that much more at all. Sure, Buddy was fun at first on Cake Boss; but now that he's on every single show in existence I've lost interest a little bit, well more than a little bit.

Kate Plus 8: The End

With the final two episodes airing in the last few weeks I'm a little bit shocked. I really thought that this show would go on well until the kids were in high school. I think Kate even said something once that they'd be on the air as long as people were watching. I think this is going to be a lot more difficult than if just you were on a sitcom and it got canceled. I think it's true of every reality show that gets canceled. If it's just a show then you can say "Ok, people lost interest in the show". However, if you're a reality star I wonder if it feels like "why don't they like me anymore?" or "Why isn't my life interesting enough?" However, if the people are interesting enough I'd watch them collect coins or find silver dollars for sale. I sure watch enough people on TLC go to the dentist.

They're Married?

I was really surprised when I was looking up the show Picker Sisters. It has Tracy Huston and Tanya McQueen. You probably know the two from Extreme Makeover Home Edition. The concept of the show is really unique. They basically travel across the country and just buy junk out of people's yards. This could be a silo or some rusty chain. I'm always wondering if they'll find use for tires. I would love a table made out of xd series wheels. They take it back to LA and turn it into something totally new that they can really sell in their store and they make really incredible stuff out of other people's junk that even ends up turning into something quite chic.

My Favorite Summer Shows

At first I thought that the only summer show that I really cared about was Mad Men. There were even reruns in the summer. However, one of the recent trends that I've seen lately is the death of all crafting shows. I miss all of the complicated instructions. There were always tons of gift ideas that I never would've thought of. Now if you want to find wedding anniversary gifts for her you usually have to buy them, which let's face it is easier.

What I'm Not Watching Right Now

It just doesn't feel like summer without Mad Men. When I think of summer I think of motorcycles, bell helmets, lemonade, and Mad Men. In fact it's one of the biggest reasons why I've kept my cable connection. Apparently due to negations it was delayed until 2012. I was initially pretty miffed at this. Then I read this article that explains it was because Matthew Weiner was really trying to maintain the integrity of the show. I have never bought a storage unit. I probably never will. However, there are a lot of business lessons to be learned from Dave that could probably be applied to a grocery store or a drug detox center program. He really is great at intimidating people. I don't know if this works to his advantage because no one likes him. It's really every other bidder against Dave. I was noticing on some other storage auction type shows that at every auction there seems to be someone who thinks that it's "their house” and will throw a lot of money around to prove it. I don’t know if this really pays off for them monetarily but seems to be important for their egos.

The Shop Assistants are at it Again

I knew from the first episode of Ny Ink that it really wasn’t going to be any different. It's kinda like playing the same game on the wii over and over. It's interesting especially if it's a game you love but sometimes you want a different version. I had feared the show was going to focus more on drama than tattoos. I was right.

However it seems like once again the shop assistants will be the scape goats and the focus of all the drama. On LA Ink it seems like every single season has a new shop assistant whose only purpose is to create drama and try to hold onto her job every single week. I really would’ve hoped that at least they could’ve made someone else the scape goat on this series.

Color Splash Review

I’ve been watching some older season of Color Splash with David Bromstad. He really evolves throughout the show as a better host. However, I think the big problem with his rooms is his use of color. They are just way too oversaturated for my tastes. Even in small kitchens he has different tons of cabinets and walls and different drawer pulls on each cupboard. Any one of those ideas is cool. However, putting them altogether in just one small space is way too much. I think his ideas would shine through a lot better if he just used one or two per room. Sure the show is called Color Splash; but it doesn’t always have to be a color explosion.

Do You Really Hate Each Other That Much?

This is something that I ask myself a lot while watching Storage Wars. Sure, I expect the competitors to hate it when someone else gets a really good find in their locker. However, who really confuses me are Jarrod and Brandi. They are a couple who run a thrift store together. However, they fight and compete constantly. When one of them finds something worth a lot of money in the locker they picked out; the other person complains about it. Hey, it's making you money too that you can spend on your kids or save in cd annuities. I realized that I had never seen the first episode where they get all of their powers. I just had always assumed that the sisters came with their powers. I don't know how I managed to watch so much of the later season without this information. I also can't remember if any of the sisters get married or send out bridal shower invitations. So basically, I remember very little about the show except it's something that I used to like. I usually don't watch westerns. Plus I remember this as being a John Wayne classic that I also never watched. So I turned up the wall speakers and expected to be bored. It's really a fascinating film and I never saw the end coming. I may even watch the John Wayne version even though it probably doesn't have all of the special effects. Plus, that version doesn't even have Matt Damon in it but I'll still watch it. So, for someone who doesn't like westerns to endorse it is a pretty big deal.

Auction Hunters Review

This was another show that I recently passed over just because it was on Spike and we all know that channel is just for guys. I found that it takes the typical auction show up a notch. Sure, Ton is your man's man with all of his tattoos; but Allen is just plain pretty to look at. It seems like every locker has at least one big prize in it. However, I'm sure that most of them are just full of tee shirts and jeans and aren't worth the thousands of dollars that they find in each one on the show.

My favorite part of this show is that it documents the great finds as well as how much they actually sell for. Most of the other auction and storage war shows just tell the perceived value that something has. I also like that most of the time they work together as a team. There really isn't a ton of fighting which is also different from the other shows of its type. Instead; it's just all about the storage lockers which is great.

Drop Dead Diva Review

This was a Lifetime TV show that I had put off watching for awhile. I was intrigued at first by the reviews but I rarely watch a show when it’s in the first season. There’s just too much heartbreak there. However, my Instant Queue was lacking other great choices yesterday so I gave it a shot.

I have been missing out. Again, I missed out because of my prejudice against certain TV channels. I find a lot of the shows on Lifetime and especially the movies to be depressing and overly dramatic. This one is fun to watch and if you haven’t seen it yet you definitely should. If you have watched it then let me know what you think.

Repo Wars Review

So I originally made fun of this Spike TV show. The premise is just too ridiculous not to make me giggle. Basically, the repo man comes to your house. You get a chance to totally pay off your car if you can answer three questions right. If you don't get it right then your car is taken as it would have been anyways.

When I sat down to watch the show I fell in love with it just because I couldn't believe how easy it is to answer these questions. One of them was something like "What fruit was a raisin before it was a raisin?" They are unbelievably easy. They mine as well ask "What do you keep inside a blackberry case?" At first I was disappointed because I had hoped that it would be a little bit more like the usual trivia game show where I learned something. However, after I started laughing it quickly became my favorite trivia show.

NY Ink Review

I had hopes that NY Ink would be different. Sure, it has Ami James in it from Miami Ink. However, that was really the first Ink show on TLC. It didn’t dissolve completely into drama the way it's LA counterpart did. It showed actual tattoos, imagine that. I'd rather hear actual stories. I did like that one spinoff show I think it was on A&E. They'd travel around in a bus or an rv and do tattoos all across the country. I don't know if they were good at rv repair. In fact, I've noticed that the more drama there is in an episode, the fewer tattoos there are. So I gave this show a chance, and even in the first episode it wasn't about the tattoos as much as it was about the fighting. I really wanted this one to be different.

Even Though I Knew My Chances Were Low

I've never really wanted to be on TV. The premise is that a couple signs up to renovate their house together for $25,000. Then they discover that one of them will be in charge to execute the plan while the other person is sequestered far away for 3 weeks.

The twist of the show is that the absent spouse designs a "dollhouse". They have an exact replica of their room to work with and can design it any way they want. Then the other spouse can see it when the renovation is close to being finished. They get an option of purchasing some of the items. I really think this is unfair because it gets up their expectations. Really they should instead have to address all 3 rooms, that way they can’t blow the budget on just one “dream” space and they have a better idea of the struggle that the other spouse is going through. I wish TLC would get away from reality shows and start teaching us again whether it's about liponox reviews or home improvement.

I Can't Believe That’s Really on TV

I don't usually watch a lot of Spike TV. I'm more into beauty networks that might mention prevage reviews or decorating shows. However, sometimes they have lots of storage unit/auction type shows and I enjoy those. However, I've been noticing late at night a little show called "Repo Games". I've only been able to watch 3 minutes at a time because it's just too much for my brain to compute. Basically, the repo company comes to get your car. If you win a trivia game, then you can keep your car & you won't have to make any payments. Is it a creative show idea? Yes. Is it sad that this is what the world has come to? Yes.

Saving Grace Review

This was a TV show that I had never bothered tuning into it because it's not really like TV needs another detective/crime show. However, the pickings were getting a little slim on my instant watch list. I thought I'd watch it for 10 minutes and turn it off. However, a rebellious detective who reluctantly sees an angel? Well, ok now I'm just hooked. It definitely isn't the average detective show.

How Do You Know?

This was a movie that I almost skipped because usually romantic comedies are neither romantic nor comedic to me. Plus this one was about sports so I was like "Hmm a sports romance, how many people want to watch that?" However, I thought that at the very least I'd be able to see some cool urban clothing and possibly hear an awesome soundtrack. However, this had Reese Witherspoon in it, so I watched it. Sure, it was the same basic predictable formula. However, it also has one of the best scenes and points that I've seen in a long time. There's a point in the movie with an inspiring story and a quote that says something like "we are all just one minor adjustment away from making it work". That taught me more than all the other romantic comedies combined.

Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution

This show was somewhat of a happy accident for me. I hadn’t planned on watching it but nothing was on. Well, there was a thing about the in styler on but I've already watched it twice. I can’t believe how people fight back against him. It seems like everyone from school districts to fast food owners have it out for them. A lot of the discussions were even more heated than if it had been about politics. I can understand school districts being weary or being exploited by reality shows. However, instead of trying to fix the problem they just seem to be trying to hide it.

The fast food owner was totally the same way. He kept saying that it wasn’t his fault that people don’t care about ingredients. While this is probably true of most fast food, that doesn’t mean that it still can’t be healthy. I really hope the food revolution actually works.

One of My Favorite TV Moments EVER

I really fell in love with last week's episode of The Office. However, I just love shows like Pawn Stars. I still learn about a lot of historical documents, but I love the eclectic mix and the bargaining of the deal. I would love to just browse their shops and pick up cool art or address plaques for my house. It's amazing to see all of the random knowledge these pawn shop owners have stored in their brains, just because they literally look at so many items every single day. I really wasn’t expecting to learn anything that I didn’t know from watching her weekly show. However, I was amazed at her human interaction. I’m used to seeing her chat with people via web cam or on the phone. It was really a chance to see how amazing she is.

I’ve been looking for a clip or even an update, but because I couldn’t remember the guys name I can’t seem to pull it up online. A guy in the audience was desperately looking for help because he had a crazy amount of student loans and was only making $20,000 a year. I knew the answer before Suze Orman said it: you can’t discharge student loans in bankruptcy. I was hoping that somehow she’d be able to pull an answer out of the air for this guy. Instead, she had him join her on the stage and look at all of the people who thought he could turn this around, and that he thought he had worth. I really love how sometimes, it’s not about money. It just made me feel like people could do anything, turn the recession around, find an acne treatment, or get out of debt. It’s about your own power to change things around, and she is really an expert and combining these two elements together.

Suddenly, It's Funny Again

When Nick and Nite originally started airing the Nanny continuously I was quiet elated. It used to be one of my favorite shows growing up. I think I had a crush on Maxwell. Although, since he's rich I always picture him with cigars. Sure, Nick and Nite tends to beat all dead horses by airing just one show over and over when they should be venturing more into classic television.

Then I watched it and thought "Really? I thought this was funny?" Then, since it was on all the time I had no choice but to watch it a few weeks later. Suddenly, I was watching 3 or 4 episodes in a row even though they were all the same. Then I couldn’t believe that people weren’t talking about this show the way they do “I Love Lucy”. It’s a zany cast that is oddly comforting.

Phew...

I was worried that Extreme Makeover Home Edition wasn't on just because I hadn't been watching it lately, and yes I know that logic is skewed. It was one of those shows that just made me cry and cry. It's so amazing to see all of the normal people who spend their time trying to help other people with whatever they have. They are using talents whether it's redecorating or cooking to change peoples lives, even when they don't have a lot themselves. It made me want to go get a Sun Hat and help in someone's yard. Sure, the fact that there's an undercover millionaire looking for people who are worthy of his or her money is pretty cool. However, the real story is in all of the people who have managed to help people without a secret millionaire to fund it.

Is TV Changing?

Is TV going in a more positive light? I certainly hope so. I recently heard about a show called Undercover Boss where a boss goes to work for their own company. Who Do You Think You Are? focuses on finding out about ancestors. That show always makes me want to try Conference calling with all my family to tell them I love them. There's also going to be a new show called Secret Millionaire where people give away money to charity or people who deserve it. Finally, Extreme Makeover Home Edition isn't the only feel good show on TV. I hope the trend continues.

Pick Me Up

When I have a bad day there are a few shows that will always makes me smile. I was online looking at food storage when I remembered it was time to sift through the movies. So, I had a hefty weekend with several movies I needed to get through and some of them were classics.

1. Rosemary’s Baby: I didn’t know that this was a horror movie. When the credits started I remembered that people refer to evil things as “Rosemary’s baby”. So, I did the grown up thing and turned the movie off and thanks to a lot of the reviews I’ve read calling it the scariest movie of all time I’m really glad that I did.

2. From Here to Eternity: I've tried to watch this on TCM several times before just because I kind of remember them talking about this show on Gilmore Girls. However, instead I kept getting bored before the movie got good. So this is one of those movies that I’ve failed at watching no matter how hard I’ve tried. I’ll be relieved when it’s off my queue so I don’t have to feel guilty anymore.

Unexpected Quotes

I remember the first time I saw Casablanca. I was so surprised at all of the famous quotes that were in the movie. It was like "Ohh that's where it came from". I was just watching On the Waterfront and honestly I was bored. I was looking at any trees or shrubs and wondering "Are those cypress trees?" Then all of a sudden Brando said "I coulda been a contender". Suddenly, I was interested in the movie. I would have thought that it would have come from a total boxing movie like Rocky. Basically, it either has to be a movie or an actress that I've heard of or have the slightest interest in. However, I went back on forth on the 1997 movie "That Old Feeling". I know who Bette Midler is and love her songs, but her movies can be hit or miss. So when Netflix kept recommending it to me I kept ignoring it. Every time I looked at this movie I thought "Eh it will be somewhere in the terrible to the ok category". It was pretty ok, better than I thought. It's the perfect movie to watch on a Saturday afternoon when you don't want too much violence or thought. It is also a "background" kind of movie if you are looking up acetyl l carnitine or working. It reminded me how tame PG-13 movies used to be and I miss that.

The Coolest Article in Awhile

I really love this article by the Times of the best and worst Oscar dresses of all times. It also list gowns from Shirley Maclaine and Mia Farrow. I thought that the best Oscar dresses would be a lot more obvious but this list really pulls out some iconic stars with lesser known fashion that is still fantastic. They also moved Bjork’s infamous swan dress to the best dressed list which I couldn’t believe.

It's like Christmas with Music

I have a feed in my rss reader that keeps track of all of my favorite artists’ new album alerts. However, it recently came onto the Netflix Instant queue. I thought that it would just be a show that I watched the pilot of and skipped. I planned on using my laptop the whole time to work and read about safe diet pills. It was a show I was just trying to get through. Maybe it's just because I love flash mob singing and dancing so much, but this is just a "feel good even when the situation isn't perfect shows". Now I wish that I would have watched it when it was on the air just so I could have protested when it went off. Plus, Tom Cavanagh has a bit part in it, and I've always had a little bit of a crush on him.

What Am I Doing Here?

I really love The Nate Show. The next Buddy Valastro show featured the "Next Great Baker". Today I turned it on, and Buddy was on in the daytime and I wished I had a Atrix 4G so I could look up what was going on. He has a new show called "Kitchen Boss".

I was doubtful for the need of a new Buddy show. However, it's one of those cooking shows that you can watch even if you can't cook. I'd even try some of the Italian cuisine. However, it's kinda like watching Paula Deen, of course all of the food is going to taste good; it’s full of butter, cream, or fat. Fried food is good; I don't need to watch a cooking show to learn that. However, Buddy really came to life when his family joined him and it became the entertaining family that I’m used to and would watch no matter how many shows they are on. That's the thing I love about Buddy the most, he always takes his family with him.

30 Days

30 Days was a show based on the movie "Super Size Me" where people would be sent on "challenges" for 30 days, to just live a completely different life. I think this is something everyone should have to do to overcome fears and fight prejudices and just see what their life would have been like with totally different opportunities. I would love to be able to spend that time wearing a nurse uniform and just finding out what other careers are like. It's rent time before I get paid. Plus, I usually have to keep telling myself what month we are now in when I write out that check. I try to treat myself with menu planning or a fruit delivery. However, my favorite part is all the new titles that go onto Instant Watch. This month they included "The Cosby Show", "Dances with Wolves", and "Ugly Betty". According to the wikipedia page it seems that her life pretty closely mirrored the movie. I was just tuning into it because of Doris Day. It was one of her more serious roles and she did a great job. Granted, there was still a lot of singing and dancing, but for Doris Day it was a pretty serious role. Her movies always make me wish I could sing and had more chances to wear prom dresses. I really fell in love with a lot of the songs and it's amazing that one person can experience so much heart ache in just one lifetime.

Are They From Utah?

This was something that I kept asking myself during an episode of “How I Met Your Mother”. Marshall and Lily were visiting his family in Minnesota and Lily was entrusted with a family recipe for some sort of 7 layer salad. It was compromised of huge layers of mayo with Funyuns, gummy worms, and other things that definitely should not be in salad. It made me the laugh the whole time she was making it because although I love my state, people are very fond of putting things in salads that shouldn’t be in salads. Plus, it’s extremely rare for any salad to be heavy on lettuce or vegetables here.

Hitchcock Film Reviews

I’ve always loved Hitchcock movies. So when my Netflix Instant Watch queue alerted me that several of them were expiring I was determined to watch all of them before that time came.

I Confess was the best movie of the marathon. It was by no means the best Hitchcock film I've seen. However, it's an interesting plot line where a priest witnesses a murder. The murderer confesses to the priest locking him under oath so that he can't tell the police.

Stage Fright
I don't really know what this movie was about because I only watched about 6 minutes of it and it didn't really catch my eye. Instead I started looking up ephedra diet pills and reading blogs.

Family Plot
I tuned into Family Plot simply because it was Hitchcock's last movie and I tried to really make it through this one but I was bored and distracted.

My New Years TV Resolutions

I've made a New Years resolution that will hopefully free up a lot of time for me. I'm not going to watch shows that I don't truly enjoy anymore. When I first moved to a town with just a basic cable option I was horrified. Who would keep track of all of the "Real Wives" or see which brides were considering tattoo removal or coverup? So when I was at my parents’ home for Christmas I was busy trying to catch up on my favorite shows. I was watching Bridezillas and realized "I really don't enjoy this. It makes me tense and the lack of gratitude saddens me". I don't miss a lot of the reality TV shows that I just though I had to have. I sit down and watch a lot of TV still that is just "ok" because it’s on. Instead, I'm going to be more dedicated to finding the best and cutting out the rest.

The Set Wins

There are some shows where the set is so good that it really upstages the actors. I think that this is something that regularly happens on the show Brothers and Sisters. The grasscloth wallpaper is just amazing as are all of the arched doorways. I would move in there if I could. It's probably one of the most beautiful sets I've ever seen and it's just in peoples everyday homes. Every house and apartment that they have is so stunning. Oftentimes I find myself just looking at the scenery instead of paying attention to the plot line. I love seeing celebrities learn more about who they are and where they come from. It's an interesting concept for anyone but when you see the generations of hardwork and dedication that it takes to just survive and have one of their descendants make it big is just so amazing. It makes me wonder if someday I'll be the great great great great grandma or aunt of someone who discovers the best adult acne treatment or does something truly wonderful. It has Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert in it. It's a great black and white movie but for some reason didn't hold my interest. I did noticed how much we've changed as a culture. The information about the socialite would've been around the world on an apple iphone in minutes now. I think it was kind of referenced just so that Carrie could make jokes about the title. However, if you want a fun black and white movie it might be the way to go. I guess I just wasn't in a zany watching mood when I watched it. (Almost every review and summary of this movie has used the word zany so I couldn't leave it out). Has anyone else seen this movie?

To Keep or Not to Keep

This is something that I find myself asking a lot when I go through the list of my Netflix Instant Watch queue. It just brings up a lot of movies and TV shows that I’m like "Oh that would be ok to watch". Here are a few of my latest reviews.

1. The Secret Life of the American Teenager: I watched about half an hour of this. I think I would have liked it if I was younger. Things have really changed from the Saved by the Bell Days. It's off my life now.

2. Brothers and Sisters: I go back and forth on this one. I just can't decide. I've watched several episodes and change my mind several times per episode on whether or not I’ll keep watching. It's not the best or most compelling show around but it's one of the best that is on Instant Watch. I just don't want to invest time in going through all of these seasons but at the same time, I can't stop watching.

3. Grey's Anatomy: Eh, I watched 15 minutes then deleted it form the queue because again I can't invest seasons and seasons into a show that isn't really great and that seems to be more and more difficult to find.

SATC 2 Review

When the ...And the City 2 movie came out I really questioned the need for a second movie. However, as a closet fan of the show I checked it out. I tend to think that I watch the show for ironies sake, but let's face it, I'm Miranda, and I know I am. However, if any of the characters were having a sale I'd show up at Carrie's. So, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I really liked the way it explored all of the many relationships. It had a lot of the fun over the top fashion that the show was known for. So doing another movie about a TV show seemed like a bad idea because who wants to watch a series of movies? That's what a TV series is made for. If you want to bring them back, give them a show again. However, it was good to see them together again.

Well Maybe It Isn't So Bad

I almost had a crush on Bear Grylls once from Man vs. Wild until I saw all of the disgusting stuff that he eats. However, I just barely tuned into the show because he was in Alaska and looking so pretty. However, then I kept watching because he kept saying the word glacier really funny. I had no idea what he was talking about for the first 15 minutes. I thought he was talking about someone who made glass. Then he ate something gross and I really had to change the channel again and start thinking about how I need home theater seating to block out the gross thoughts. I even watch the same Lifetime holiday movies over and over. I like the way everything ends well. I like it when things work out. The very next day everything is just back to mayhem and bedlam. I checked the TV guide the day after Christmas and almost every show was about murder/abuse/or broken relationships. I guess now I'm back to just staring at the wall sconces until the next holiday season. It didn't really cross my path again. It's not on TV ever, usually I just flip through the TV movies aimlessly while researching diet pills or reading blogs. It takes a lot to stop me in my tracks as far as movies go. When I got Instant Watch from Netflix I was thrilled to see that it was there. I have and love "I'm Ugly and I don't Know Why" by this band. I couldn’t really get into the rest of the music that this film showed. I only wish that I had known about this amazing band earlier when they were together. Sure, most of his appearances can't match up to Arrested Development. Well, none of them can honestly. Mostly, I just think about Arrested Development, wait for the movie to be over, and then use my laptop to find new movies or look at alli reviews.

Last night I watched Paper Heart with Charlyne Yi and Michael Cera. At times it's heartbreaking when Charlyne questions whether she's actually capable of love. I think even a scientist she was interviewing went "Aww" and wanted to hug her when she did this. I would classify it as an Indie movie. Usually this isn't my style but I've been trying to give the genre a chance lately and have been striking out accordingly. This was one of the better ones I've seen.

Jack and Bobby Review

I just finished watching the one and only season of this show. The final episode was a little bit corny and I would have liked further explanation as to what happens to Grace. There was also a little bit of ambiguity as to how exactly Courtney ends up with Bobby and who Jack marries. All in all it's one of the better series I've ever watched and it's a shame that it didn't stick around so I could get more answers.
